Standing Firm When the Battle Doesn't End Overnight

I remember the height of my spiritual battle. It didn’t happen overnight. It was a build up from all the trauma and all the choices I had made up to that point. I hit a point where my “pot” was boiling over, and I was literally spewing emotions on all those around me. 

Just as oppression builds and strengthens over time, healing and restoration can take time as well. Often when we work with clients, the expectation is that everything will be dealt with and done with after the initial session. Many times, the first session is just the beginning. 

Year after year, hurt, pain, and situations work their way through our mind, emotions, body, and habits training us in how to respond. The retraining of our mind, emotions, body, and habits takes time. This process is discipleship and coaching. Whether we are in the Word and discipling and coaching our own mind, emotions, body, and habits or we enlist the help of others, this is very real work that needs to be done after an initial Break Away (deliverance session). 

Removing the spiritual roots and casting out the enemy, does not guarantee he won’t come back. And sometimes, there are deeper layers that weren’t quite ready to be dealt with in that initial session. 

As we progress through life, we will still encounter testing, trials, attacks, and other difficult situations. Are we spiritually equipped to walk through them and come out on the other side still free in Christ? Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about the armor of God, but our armor must be rooted in understanding of identity, truth, righteousness, faith, and the Lordship of Jesus. 

My heart cry to the Lord back in 2012 was that if He was calling me to this ministry then I didn’t just want to put a bandaid on situations. I didn’t just want to do character development. I wanted to see real, authentic transformation happen at a foundational level in people’s lives. This ask was the catalyst for everything we are doing today. 

Foundation transformation takes time. 

It takes effort. 

It takes resting. 

It takes surrendering. 

It takes partnering. 

It takes revelation. 

It takes wisdom.

It takes knowledge.

It takes understanding.

It takes encouragement. 

It takes fellowship. 

It takes love. 

It takes abiding. 

It is not easy. We know it. We have walked it. We are still walking it. And now we are helping others walk it.
